229 West 43rd Street

New York, New York
Client: Equity Office

229 West 43rd Street, formerly known as The New York Times Building, is an American 18-story (267 feet; 81 metres) office building. It was the headquarters of The New York Times newspaper from 1913 through 2007. ‪Art Assets‬ developed the ‪‎art‬ ‪program‬ for the lobby. Anne Morgan Spalter is an artist and author whose career reflects her long-standing goal of integrating art and technology. Anne was selected to present “Movements”. This new video work, up the lobby of the old NYT’s building (now Yahoo and Snapchat NYC headquarters), is based on footage shot from a helicopter over NYC. “Movements” within the work include different patterning strategies and feature locations from Ground Zero to Times Square and from the Chrysler to the Empire State Building. Up until June sometime.
